Magic 2015 Spoilers Part 1

This week has begun Spoiler week on the Mothership and as such, we are following suit.

Unfortunately, due to their recent updates, everything goes live each morning at 3 AM EST, so our posts and page updates will be occurring sometime the next day. We have our own beliefs on their new site and how fixes/updates are being handled, but that's for a completely different time. For now, we have spoilers...

May I present to you, ladies and gentlemen, the Planar Souls Cycle:

Soul of Ravnica    Soul of Zendikar

The Souls represent some aspect of the color they have. They are also all six mana, like the Titan cycle from M11 and M12. With the Titans, they were 6/6 creatures for six mana with a ability specific to their color (for example, Deathtouch for Black, Trample for Green, etc.) and had an ability that occurred when they entered the battlefield and when they attack.

Here we have Ravnica, Shandalar, and Zendikar. Each has an ability for their color (Flying, First Strike, and Reach) and they have an ability. Ravnica draws cards, Shandalar deals damage, and Zendikar produces 3/3 beast tokens.

The ones that are missing, of course are White and Black, which the Mothership has let us know belong to Theros and Innistrad respectively. But wait, there's more:

That's right! New Phyrexia comes in as an artifact for a six card cycle! The Titans never had a sixth, it was strictly the five colors. Trample is the ability for this one and Indestructible is the activated ability.

Another new cycle we have are Legendary creatures, like in M13. Check out a couple of them:

Jalira, Master Polymorphist  Ob Nixilis, Unshackled  Yisan, the Wanderer Bard

Cool, huh?

Additionally, the Mothership has let us know that at least five uncommon Slivers will be added to work with the Slivers from M14 for everyone who loves Slivers, like me. By the way, I'm 1 for 1 so far on predictions. Only have three things left to see (Sliver land, Garruk as a B/G walker, and the presense of Enemy Painlands):

Garruk the Slayer could be seen as a Black/Green walker, but he doesn't go in a deck and is just an oversized card for use in a special activity during the prerelease. I'll wait to claim a win just yet in the event there will actually be a B/G Garruk for use in a deck coming out in M15.

Other things we can gather from the Mothership today is the return of Convoke, a mechanic from the Original Ravnica Block which was found with Selesnya. Take a look at the first spoiler of it:

I really love this core set so far. It looks like a lot of fun with all kinds of amazing cards. We also get to see the return of a couple modern favorites:

Let's now take a look at the basic lands (New art shows up larger on this page):

Plains

Plains  Plains Plains Plains

Island

Island  Island  Island  Island

Swamp

Swamp  Swamp  Swamp  Swamp

Mountain

Mountain  Mountain  Mountain  Mountain

Forest

Forest  Forest  Forest  Forest

For all the basic lands, we have one new art and three returning arts from previous core sets. Three of the newest arts (Plains, Swamp, Forest) are by legendary artist John Avon and the new Island and Mountain art are by up-and-coming Magic artist Florian de Gesincourt whose first and, until now, only piece was the new art for Exploration in Conspiracy.

Another new thing for M15 is the creation of new cards by famous game designers, as well as the most recent card designed by the Magic community: Waste Not.

Waste Not

One of my favorite ones, mainly because of the art is the card created by Markus Persson, creator of Minecraft:

Aggressive Mining

For those of you who don't play Minecraft, the basic game play is digging blocks and placing blocks to build things. There are other aspects such as fighting monsters, exploring caves, etc. but the main thing is taking these cube blocks out of hte ground and building with them. Now look at the art. It looks like cubes have been taken out of the ground, so it shows off the Minecraft aspect.

Many more cards can be found on our spoiler page, so please check them out!
