Standard: White/Blue Strive

Around the time that Journey into Nyx was released, I developed a new deck that I could use for Game Day, and it is a fairly decent deck. It isn't overly amazing, but it works, and I haven't every heard of a White/Blue Aggro deck. Normally those colors are reserved for control, but let's take a look...

White/Blue Strive Aggro

Creatures

x4 Hopeful Eidolon
x4 Soldier of the Pantheon
x4 Phalanx Leader
x4 Battlefield Thaumaturge
x4 Fabled Hero
x3 Eidolon of Countless Battles

Land

x4 Hallowed Fountain
x4 Temple of Enlightenment
x2 Mana Confluence
x7 Plains
x3 Island

Artifacts

x2 Spear of Heliod

Other Spells

x4 Ajani's Presence
x3 Aerial Formation
x2 Kiora's Dismissal
x4 Launch the Fleet
x2 Detention Sphere

Sideboard

x2 Pithing Needle
x2 Mortal's Ardor
x2 Imposing Sovereign
x2 Revoke Existence
x2 Spirit of the Labyrinth
x2 Banisher Priest
x2 Phalanx Formation
x1 Ephara, God of the Polis

So this deck should be pretty self explanatory... Battlefield Thaumaturge is used to reduce the cost of the spells with Strive in order to boost the Heroic cards. So first, the creatures...

Battlefield Thaumaturge  Fabled Hero  Phalanx Leader

Fabled Hero is one of the best cards with Heroic because it already has double strike. Can't beat that. Phalanx Leader is included to boost the creatures even more because being able to target both Phalanx Leader and Fabled Hero makes Fabled Hero a 4/4 that is throwing 8 damage towards your opponent because of double strike.

Ajani's Presence  Aerial Formation  Launch the Fleet

Ajani's Presence is a pretty obvious choice for the deck. You trigger Heroic and make a creature indestructible. Aerial Formation is for evading opponents and attacking with everything in the air. Launch the Fleet... I only preordered eight cards before the Journey into Nyx release: 4 Launch the Fleet and 4 Battlefield Thaumaturge just for this deck. All you have to do is pay a single white mana and then Battlefield Thaumaturge allows you to target all your other creatures for free. I thought this was a novel idea and built the deck around that, and it works pretty well. Of course, Phalanx Leader can't boost the soldiers, but that's what Spear of Heliod is for.

Pair all of this with the lifegain from Hopeful Eidolon and Soldier of the Pantheon, much more damage from Eidolon of Countless Battles (slap one of those on a Fabled Hero. You'll like what you see...), bouncing of enchantments with Kiora's Dismissal, and removal with Detention Sphere. Actually, this deck could be modified for Block Constructed.

Now for the sideboard:

Imposing Sovereign  Banisher Priest  Ephara, God of the Polis

Pithing Needle to stop anything too dangerous (Elspeth taking down your Fabled Hero?), Mortal's Ardor for more life gain, Imposing Sovereign for stopping decks that utilize haste, Revoke Existence for more enchantment removal (and artifact removal too), Spirit of the Labyrinth to slow down control decks or other fast aggro decks, Banisher Priest for more removal, Phalanx Formation for double strike in case Fabled Hero isn't enough, and Ephara. Honestly, I have no idea why I put her in here... Maybe the thought of a 6/5 indestructible creature? Or the card draw? Really not sure.

The more I look at this deck, the more I see how it could definitely be refined and turned into a Block Constructed deck. I've never had the opportunity to play in one of those events, but I do believe this has a definite basis, and the sideboard is the main thing that needs modification since only Hallowed Fountain and Detention Sphere weren't printed in Theros Block.
